Nashville - Expect to see a lot more of Jamie Lynn Spears this summer, but not in her former role as an actress. She's putting out new music, getting radio play and introducing herself to country music fans all over the country.
Spears, making an appearance at this week's CMA Music Fest in Nashville, understands why some people might be a little puzzled — the little sister of one of the world's biggest pop star's singing country? But Spears says once people get a chance to listen to her, they understand
"It gives me more of a reason to prove that I love what I am doing and make them believe in me," Spears said.
The former teen star of Zoey 101 has been working behind the scenes in Nashville learning the craft of songwriting. She's already got a music video and put out an EP called The Journey on iTunes with five new songs.
Even without a record label, she still sneaked into the bottom of the Billboard's Country Airplay chart and she's increasingly doing more live performances, including this week's festival and the Taste of Country festival later in June in New York State. Festivals like the CMA Fest are critical starting points for new artists trying to break out on the smaller stages and grab the attention of both music industry folks and fans alike.
Spears left acting after announcing that she was pregnant at the age of 16, but now 23, a mom and recently married, she says she knows singing is her passion.
"It felt good to be able to tell these stories and be able to sing them, make them universal," Spears said.
"... I feel like I have really been able to find who I was as an artist."
The two sisters sang together on a song for Britney's album, Britney Jean, and the younger Spears isn't ruling out another duet in the future. Jamie Lynn says she gets advice and inspiration from her older sister, but she's also gotten a good compliment from Britney.
"She thinks it's brave that I am out there really laying it on the line with some of my lyrics," Spears said.
"So I think that we do influence each other just as far as the craft goes even though it is two completely different sounds."
Dhruv Prasad, one of the festival organisers for the Taste of Country festival, said the name may get her through the door in country music, but it's her music that will determine her success.
"Jamie Lynn Spears has 4 million hits on her YouTube," Prasad noted. "That to me is a more relevant metric of her popularity, versus whose sister she is."

In the future I Alan Mercieca will be making a special video, possibly a series of videos, That will be promoting both Britney Spears, and Selena Gomez at the same time. It will show how great a fan of Britney Spears Selena Gomez truly is. She was a mega supporter of Britney since she was 11 years old (about 10 years ago), long long before she met Britney Spears.
I not only help with this website I have my own Selena Gomez fan page. I do not want to spoil the surprise, so this is all that I will say for now. I have a long time now believed that the Britney Army, and that the Selenators are the best possible fan bases to join forces, making it even better both have won best fans this year, and both fan bases have the same kind of respect for one or for both of these amazing artists.
For now I will leave you with a playlist for some Britney Spears videos that I had made in the past.
Watch an hour-long new tabloid Britney Spears documentary. “With the release of her eighth studio album, Britney is back and she’s workin’ it! This documentary chronicles the career of international superstar from her more innocent years with the release of “Baby One more Time” to being the highest paid judge on US X Factor and collaborating with Will.i.am on her latest album. She is worldwide a pop icon, who continues to grow and deliver to her fans. This is her inside story . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_toirv3hg6U Source: britneyindonesia
MBI team note: This documentary is inaccurate, it's not an inside story. That is what the source says. we should consider this one gossip. It's glee all over again. Britney should have the right to tell her own story, and she should have the right to decide when it's to be told. Britney deserves a more accurate telling of her story. And its on here as a tabloid made documentary and only posted due to alot of fans commenting wanting to see it.
How do you solve a problem like Britney Jean? The answer, it turns out, is by letting William Orbit go back and fix other people’s mistakes. The English producer contributed “Alien” to the generally disastrous LP but wasn’t happy with the final edit. After taking some Twitter jabs atWill.i.am, he simply let his work do the talking and casually knocked out the best Britney Spears song since “Til The World Ends”.
This isn’t so much a remix as a rebirth. Orbit’s new edit is almost unfathomably better then the cut that made the album. The extended introduction lends the song an eerily beautiful sensibility, while Brit’s vocal no longer sounds like it was recorded on an iPhone. Instead, the diva’s delivery is soft, pretty and suitably otherworldly. Listen to the new and vastly improved version of “Alien” after the jump.
